$1.45 Million for Police Officer In Discrimination Suit

A $1.45 million settlement has been reached in a discrimination suit brought by a police officer.  Sgt. Neil Harvey claimed that he was denied promotions over the course of his 27-year career with the Newport Beach police department because of false rumors that he is gay.  Sgt. Harvey was initially awarded $2 million and the $1.45 million settlement was reached at mediation.
