Three African-American workers of an airport services company have filed a federal lawsuit claiming racial harassment and a hostile work environment. Following President Obama's election the employees, Kanon Dillard, Allen Eaden and Tracey Harris, state that a campaign of racial harassment by their supervisor was ramped up and included repeated use of racial slurs directed at them and black people in general as well as alleged jokes about use of a noose. The men were employed by Menzies Aviation in Houston.

African-American employees at Nucor's Arkansas plant claimed that they were subjected to racial harassment and a hostile work environment based on race including the following:
- jokes about lynchings and racial slurs were broadcast over the plant's P.A. system
- supervisors belittled and ridiculed black employees
- nooses were displayed in the workplace
Each of the six plaintiffs were awarded $100,000 in compensatory damages and $100,000 in puntive damages.

A gender discrimination suit has been filed against JPMorgan Chase, which claims that it discriminated against women by paying them less than men and created a sexually hostile work environment. The suit claims that the bank made it harder for women to earn commissions and bonuses. It also accuses the bank of verbally harassing women. The EEOC filed the suit on behalf of Aimee Doneyhue in federal court in Columbus, Ohio.

A firefighter has settled her sexual harassment case for $850,000. Sharon Januszewski claimed that a male colleague ejaculated on her cot in the fire station, that pornography was present throughout the station and that the City of Oak Park, Illinois, her employer, did not investigate or respond adequately to her complaints of a hostile work environment. She will keep her job under terms of the settlement.

A $415,000 settlement in a racial harassment case has been reached against NPMG, a credit card processing company. Two supervisors created and perpetuated a racially hostile work environment that included the following, according to one of the discrimination victims:
"It was unbelievable, the things they said," said Michael Buckner, one of the discrimination victims. "My supervisors often referred to my fellow African-American employees and me as ‘n-----rs' and ‘porch monkeys' and forced us to play so-called ‘Civil War games' where employees were divided into North and South. They also referred to black children or mixed-race children as ‘porch monkeys' or ‘Oreo babies.' On several occasions, I was told to turn off my ‘jigaboo music.'"
In addition to the $415,000 in damages, the settlement also requirews NPMG to conduct extensive remedial relief, including a written apology to the victims on company letterhead; anti-discrimination training; written anti-discrimination policies; discipline of discriminatory conduct and the posting of notices.
