Hotel Sued By Hotel Guest for Sexual Assault

Starwood Hotels has been sued by a guest, who was subjected to a sexual assault while in her hotel room. The victim, an investment banker, was sexually assaulted while in her bed in her room after the hotel gave a key to her room to an intoxicated man claiming to be her husband.

Hotels and motels have a duty under Kentucky law to take reasonable steps to protect and provide for the safety of their guests. The duty isn't absolute but the hotel is required to do what it reasonably can to assure for its guests' safety.
