Johnson & Johnson has been order to pay $8.3 million in the first of over 10,000 cases involving their recalled ASR hip implant device. Court documents have indicated that Johnson & Johnson knew about the flaws of their device but did not acknowledge them to buyers. As a result, over 40% of the devices have failed and caused thousands of patientsto have painful replacement surgery. Many of the thousands of cases are expected to be consolidated and financial compensation is expected for thousands of patients with the hip implant.
