Over 300 former and current security guards at the Oak Ridge energy facility have settled a class action overtime suit for $2.6 million; each of the class members will receive over $5,000.00.  The settling employer is GS4 Government Solutions, Inc.

The basis for the suit was time spent performing work duties both before and after the guards' clocked in and clocked out.  The case was what is commonly referred to as a "donning and doffing" case, one where the guards were required to put on special protective equipment and uniforms at the workplace at a location some distance from there specific work location and then repeat the process at the end of the shift.  The suit was brought under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
