A Medicaid fraud lawsuit in Utah against GlaxoSmithKline arising from the wrongful marketing of the diabetes drug Avandia has settled for $8.5 million. The suit claimed that the company defrauded the state's Medicaid program by claiming that it was a "wonder drug" although it increased the risk of heart attacks in some patients.
