Several proposals are being batted around that will increase -- vastly increase -- the numbers of salaried workers that must be paid overtime. Currently, a salaried employee that meets a relevant exemption must receive a minimum salary of $455.00 per week, which comes out to $11.38 per 40 hour workweek. Because the threshold has stayed so low for the last 40 years only 11% of salaried workers are paid overtime today, where some 65% of salaried workers were paid overtime back in 1975.
