A sex discrimination suit by present and former female UKPD officers was reinstated today and a new trial ordered by the Kentucky Court of Appeals. The case is Carpenter v. University of Kentucky. The Kentucky Court of Appeals issued a decision today ordering a new trial for Capt. Bobbye Carpenter ruling that Fayette Circuit Judge Pamela Goodwine committed numerous evidentiary errors in a trial held in April 2012. The Court of Appeals also reinstated related sex discrimination claims by former UKPD police officers Tiua Chilton and Laura Marco ruling that Judge Goodwine had erroneously thrown their cases out of court after Carpenter's unfair trial. The Court of Appeals also reversed Judge Goodwine's decision to have separate trials and ordered that there be a single trial for all three women.

Lexington, Kentucky discrimination lawyer Robert Abell represented the female police officers in the sex discrimination suit.
