Design defects in MasterCraft X45 boat largely caused a boating accident a California jury found in awarding one badly-injured boat passenger $30 million in damages.  The jury found that a design defect in the boat's bow, which caused it to submerge and take on water even during a low-speed turn, was 80% responsible for the accident. Two women were thrown from the boat during the turn and one suffered severe cranial injuries and lost an eye.
