Cancellation of a woman's health insurance after she was injured in a car wreck and incurred $185,000 in medical bills has led to a $37 million verdict against Assurant Health. Jennifer Latham, a former preschool teacher, was seriously injured in a car wreck and sustained some $185,000 in medical bills.  Assurant Health then cancelled her health insurance and claimed that she had failed to report an earlier emergency room visit for shortness of breath and a treatment for uterine prolapse. The jury trial took place in Boulder, Colorado.
