Deputy sheriffs that work at a county jail have filed a class action lawsuit for unpaid overtime compensation. The lawsuit claims that the employees were required to attend pre-shift meetings 15 minutes before they clocked in and that they are entitled to compensation for that time worked. The suit is against Maricopa County, Arizona and seeks $8 million in unpaid overtime.

The rule should be simple: if an employee has to be at the workplace and has to be doing something there or else get fired, they should get paid for the time.
