Sex discrimination in employment based on lesser pay and being passed over for promotions despite better qualifications drives a class action sex discrimination lawsuit on behalf of female salespersons of the pharma giant, Novartis, that went to trial on Wednesday, April 7.  The suit seeks $200 million plus in damages on behalf of over 5,600 female sales persons.

One woman's sworn statement reports that her Novartis manager told her he preferred not to hire young women, saying, "First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes flex time and a baby carriage."
