Eight people died in seven separate crashes on Kentucky roadways from Monday, May 4 through Sunday, May 10, 2009, according to the Kentucky State Police. Seven of the crashes involved motor vehicles and two of those victims were not wearing seat belts. Single-fatality crashes occurred in Fayette, Floyd, Jefferson, Letcher, and Union counties. A motorcycle crash in Perry County killed one person.

So far in 2009 267 people have been killed in motor vehicle crashes in Kentucky, 14 more than in the same period in 2008. 21 deaths have involved a motorcycle.
