The Obama Administration is working on new regulations that will increase employees' rights and protections with regard to their employee benefits. Most employee benefits, including health and medical insurance and disability insurance, fall under the federal Employee Retirement Income Security Act, popularly known as "ERISA." The new regulations will require insurance companies to explain better their decisions and the rights of the employees that are covered by the insurance, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times, "Clearer Consumer Rights for Workers Planned by Obama Administration; Rules Expected by Spring."
