$18.5 Million Verdict In Drunk Driving Case

Catastrophic injuries that left a Colorado man a functioning paraplegic caused by a drunk driver resulted in a jury verdict $18.5 million in damages. Paul Savage, age 46, of Idaho Springs, Colorado was changing the oil in his wife's car in their driveway when he was hit by a car operated by a drunk driver whose license had been suspended. Mr. Savage's injuries have left him a functional paraplegic, have caused him to incur $4.3 million in medical bills and he faces $4.9 million of future medical bills. A jury returned a more verdict of $18.5 million damages.
