Computer Programmer Sues for Overtime Pay

A computer programmer has sued Dell Computers under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act claiming she was misclassified as exempt from overtime pay requirements.  Cherie Ross claims that her job title of programmer/analyst is misleading and that she actually performs the job duties of a payroll mainframe support technician, has no supervisory responsibilities, exercises no discretionary decision-making authority and simply executes a number of data entry tasks in accordance with strict company guidelines.  The suit was filed in federal district court in Texas.
