Hartford to Pay $72.5 Million to Settle Injury Settlement Class Action Suit

For $72.5 million Hartford Financial Services Group has settled a class action lawsuit that claimed deception by Hartford in the settlement of personal injury and workers compensation claims.  The suit alleged that Hartford settled many personal injury and workers compensation claims in structured settlements, which means that they were paid out over time in annuity form.  The suit also claimed that Hartford retained 15% of the settlements as fees, taxes and profits.
