Two nurses who reported a doctor's substandard care of patients to the medical board and then were fired and criminally prosecuted have settled their wrongful termination lawsuits for $750,000. The nurses, Anne Mitchell and Vickilyn Galle, reported anonymously to the Texas Board of Medical Licensure numerous standard of patient care deficiencies by Dr. Rolando Arafiles. The nurses identified the patient files by number but not by patient name in their report. The nurses were later fired from their jobs and criminally prosecuted. Mitchell went to trial and a jury very quickly found her not guilty; charges against Ms. Galle were dropped before trial.
