Overtime Suit Claims Misclassification as Independent Contractors

Misclassifying an employee as an independent contractor and then denying them the wages and overtime compensation owed them is a common violation of both the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and Kentucky law.  Umpires at the U.S. Open have filed suit against the United States Tennis Association claiming that they were misclassified as independent contractors and not paid the overtime due them.
