A California woman who suffered a shattered patella as a result of a slip and fall caused by liquid soap on the floor in a Costco store was awarded $415,000 in damages by a jury.  Monika Leiterman was awarded $89,868 to cover past and future medical expenses; $325,000 for past and future pain and suffering. Her lawyer, Michael O'Connor, explained that evidence at trial showed that within minutes of Leiterman's fall Costco employees saw the liquid soap and failed to clean it up.
