Massey Coal Mines Cited for Safety Violations

Coal mines operated by Massey Energy Company in Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia were cited for more than 80 safety violations by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). The citations were issued following inspections that MSHA has commenced following the death of 29 coal miners at Massey's Upper Big Branch mine in April 2010.
