A school bus accident where a school bus in St. Joseph's, Missouri ran over and killed a 16-year old student has been settled for $5 million. The youth's family filed the wrongful death lawsuit after the young man was hit and killed by a school bus operated by a Cincinnati company, First Student, while the he was legally in a crosswalk. The suit claimed that the bus's driver had failed negligently to properly defrost the bus's windshield and, as a result, the driver could not see the young man in the crosswalk.

A negligent failure to take proper care of things -- like fully defrosting all the windows -- and to pay full and proper attention to traffic, both car and pedestrian, leads to a lot of accidents and injuries.  This is negligence.
