A defectively constructed bike trail was cited as the cause of injuries suffered by an Iowa woman whose claims have been settled for $1.2 million.  Bridget Ruden, a mother of three and nurse, suffered traumatic brain injury and the onset of epilepsy following a 2008 bicycle accident. Her claim was that the bike trial on which she was riding had been constructed defectively, because it did not provide for proper drainange, allowing water and mud to settle in the stretch of the trail where she was injured. Ruden's substantial injuries have forced the end of her nursing career.
