Two investigators for the Indiana Department for Child Services have sued the agency for unpaid overtime. Arlene Nunez and Veronica Martinez cite a number of very common violations of overtime pay requirements and laws:
- working outside of office hours when they responded to emergency calls and followed up with required reports
- working through lunch which was unpaid
So it is a classic case of performing work and not getting paid for it. The suit was brought under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
