The husband of a woman who was a victim of the fungal meningitis outbreak last year has filed a lawsuit against the Nashville clinic where his wife and others received an injection with a tainted spinal steroid. The husband's wife was injected with the steroid on September 18, 2012, which was the same day that Tennessee medical officials became aware of the potential meningitis outbreak. The lawsuit alleges that the clinic failed to tell the woman that she had been injected with the steroid
with potentially life-threatening side-effects and did not recommend that she receive life-saving treatment of her fungal infection. This malpractice claim is just the first in what is expected to be a seriesof similar filed claims. The lawsuit seeks approximately $12.5 million in compensatory damages.
