A Chattanooga-based nursing home, Grace Healthcare, has settled a Medicare fraud whistleblower case for $2.7 million. The whistleblower, a former employee, reported that the nursing home pressured therapists to provide and bill for unnecessary and excessive physical and speech therapy in order to inflate its bills and defraud Medicare. The suit was filed under the False Claims Act; the whistleblower will receive $405,000 of the settlement.
