A class action lawsuit for overtime compensation by employees of R.J. Reynolds has been settled.  The suit claimed that the employees were told not to record overtime and that the company's payroll system prevented calculation of overtime.  The suit included 394 workers; the settlement terms were not disclosed.

Federal and Kentucky state law require that non-exempt employees be paid overtime for all hours greater than 40 worked in a work week. You are supposed to be paid when you work, even if the employer wants it to be off the clock.
