Is a city liable when a pedestrian is hit in a bike lane on a street where there was no sidewalk for pedestrians? A Temecula, California woman, Kimberly Reyes, was walking in a bike lane on a street where at spots the sidewalk "is completely obscured and pedestrians have no option other than to travel in the streets as they travel westbound," according to the claim. Ms. Reyes was hit by a car whose driver has said that the sun was in her eyes. Ms. Reyes' suffered severe injuries and will have to relearn to walk; she has claimed $500,000 in medical bills, $300,000 in future medical bills and $10 million in emotional distress.
