Two Denver, Colorado area police officers have filed suit claiming that they have suffered retaliation on account of their whistleblowing report about an alleged crooked cop involved in a large marijuana investigation. The officers, Daniel Joyce and Robert Lopez, were members of a joint drug enforcement task force who complained about possible corruption within the task force. They subsequently cooperated and assisted investigators from the DEA, IRS and other agencies. They claim in their lawsuit that they were then retaliated against by their police departments as follows: they were directed not to further cooperate with the DEA, were reprimanded without any sound basis or reason, were given unrealistic performance goals and were removed from the task force.
