$250 million in punitive damages has been assessed against Novartis, the pharmaceutical giant, for systematice sex discrimination against female sales reps from 2002 to 2007.  The amount represents 2.6% of Novartis's 2009 annual revenues. Earlier this week, a jury awarded $3.36 million to the 12 plaintiffs that represented some 5600 female employees in the class action lawsuit.
