A $4.5 million jury verdict in favor of a city employee in a retaliation case has been affirmed by the trial court judge reports the Boston Globe, "Cambridge Must Pay $4.5 Million In Bias Case."  The city employee, Malvina Monteiro, filed a discrimination complaint charging race and national origin discrimination. There followed what the trial judge described as "deliberate, systematic campaign to punish [Monteiro] as a reprisal for her effrontery in lodging a discrimination claim."  The jury's verdict included $3.5 million in punitive damages.
