A federal court jury in London returned a verdict of $6.2 million against the Whitley County Sheriff for severe injuries done a Corbin man, Dalton Brewer, by a volunteer deputy jailer, Tony Ramey.
The jury found that the Whitley County Sheriff had a pattern and practice of failing to train and/or supervise deputy sheriffs and that this amounted to a deliberate indifference to the likelihood that a violation of constitutional and civil rights would result. The case is Dalton Brewer v. Whitley County Sheriff, U.S. District Court, London, No 08-CV-183-GFVT. Here is the Jury Verdict Form.
