49 residents in the Middlesboro, Kentucky area have sued nine coal companies over flood damage done to their property and belongings in June.  The lawsuit claims that the coal companies' mining activities and failure to follow rules about maintaining the capacity of run-off ponds and vegetation growing on reclaimed areas caused the damages. The coal companies sued are Apollo Fuels, Bell County Coal, Strata Mining, Twin Star Coal, C&L Highwall Mining Partnership, LC&C Energy, T&T Energy, Stony Fork Mining and Tackett Creek Mining.
