International Coal Group (ICG) has settled a lawsuit charging it with widespread water pollution in eastern Kentucky for $575,000.  The case alleges that ICG violated the Clean Water Act thousands of times.  The money will be used to abate "straight-pipe" sewage discharges and to study the pollution effects of surface mining.  Bill Estep reports in the Lexington Herald-Leader, Coal Company Would Pay $575,000 In Water-Quality Reporting Lawsuit
