Disability discrimination charges filed with the EEOC increased over 10% from FY 2008 to 2009, even while discrimination charges overall declined. Race discrimination, sex discrimination and retaliation charges remained the type of charges most frequently filed.

Amendments to the Americans With Disabilities expanding the ADA's protections likely contributed to the increase in charges of disability discrimination.
