As reported earlier, Raise Kentucky's Minimum Wage, House Speaker Greg Stumbo, introduced a bill to raise the minimum wage. It has passed the House by a vote of 55-44; it is virtually certain to die in the Republican-controlled state Senate. If the minimum wage had the same buying power now that it did in 1968, the present minimum wage would be $10.70 or $3.45 higher than it is, a difference of about $140 per week and $575 per month. That's a big difference.
