A sharply-divided Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Monday in the case Christopher v. SmithKline Beecham that drug company sales reps were "outside salesmen" under the Fair Labor Standards Act and thus exempt from overtime pay requirements. The Court was predictably split: Chief Justice Roberts along with Justices Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas and Alito ruled for the big corporation and against the employees, while Justices Breyer, Kagan, Sotomayor and Ginsburg ruled for the employees.
