Police officers in Camden, New Jersey have filed suit against the city for unpaid overtime compensation.  The suit involves practices that go back 20 years and include claims that police officers on-call should be paid because their activities are so limited.  Read more in the CourierPostOnline.com: Police Sue Camden Over Unpaid Overtime.  

Whether or not the time that an employee spends "on-call" is compensable depends on a number of factors. Two of the most important are where the employee is compelled to spend the time "on-call" and the degree to which the employee's activities are limited by having to remain "on-call."
