Twelve black employees of Cleco Corp. have filed a race discrimination suit in federal court in Louisiana. Their claims include the following:
- that in Cleco's "work force, racist and discriminatory comments, conduct and adverse treatment were tolerated and even encouraged by management."
- that black employees were "routinely denied promotion while promoting similarly situated white employees with less experience, education and training."
