Sex Discrimination Case Against Wal-Mart May Proceed As Class Action

A sex discrimination lawsuit against Wal-Mart may go forward as a class action, a closely-divided federal appeals court has ruled reports the New York Times, "Wal-Mart Gender Case Divides Court."

The lawsuit is focused on the following allegations and points:

       1) Wal-Mart pays women less than men

       2) Wal-Mart gives women smaller raises than men

       3) Wal-Mart offers women fewer opportunities for promotion

       4) while 65% of Wal-Mart's hourly employees were women only 33% of the company's managers were
