Supreme Court Justice David Souter is retiring, President Obama announced this afternoon the Washington Post reports, "Obama Announces Justice Souter Is Retiring." Souter, who is from New Hampshire, was nominated for the Supreme Court by the first President Bush. President Obama pledged that he would seek a nominee with a "sharp and independent mind and a record of excellence and integrity. I will seek someone who understands justice isn't about some abstract theory."
