The Supreme Court's ruling this week in the pregnancy discrimination case, Young v UPS, was a win for Young and for working women generally. I would say it makes it easier to pregnant working women to win pregnancy discrimination cases, but it would be more accurate to state that the decision eliminates or largely mitigates some of the barriers erected by various district and appellate courts that tended to favor corporations.
The coverage of the decision has been widespread: UPS Worker’s Pregnancy Discrimination Suit Reinstated by Supreme Court; Justices revive case claiming UPS discriminated against pregnant worker; Pregnant Woman's Lawsuit against UPS Revived by Supreme Court; Supreme Court Rules Against UPS in Pregnancy Discrimination Case; Supreme Court Sides With Pregnant Workers.
