Toys R Us has appealed to the highest court in Massachusetts to overturn an award of $20 million to the family of a girl who was killed from injuries sustained while sliding down an inflatable slide. The jury declared that the slide sold by Toys R Us did not comply with federal safety standards for inflatable slides. The girl was killed when the inflatable slide partially collapsed as she slid down head first and suffered injuries from hitting her head on a concrete slab. Toys R Us is claiming that federal regulations only apply to rigid slides, not inflatable slides.
