A group of black airline pilots claim in a federal lawsuit that United Airlines engages in race discrimination by affording blacks lesser opportunities to advance into upper managment.  Among other things, the suit claims that United engages in "highly subjective decision making" to exclude blacks from promotions and promotion opportunties; it also asserts that the company has virtually no African-Americans employed at its Chicago headquarters.
