A lawyer for a New York City municipal agency found herself the target of both race discrimination and retaliation for her reporting improper practices by the agency.

Following jury findings of race discrimination and retaliation against it New York City settled with her for $750,000. Sandra Glaves-Morgan, a lawyer in the city's Human Resources Agency, persuaded the jury that she had been discriminated against based on her race and retaliated against after she reported apparently preferential contracting practices by the agency.  The jury awarded her $420,000 in compensatory damages and found that she was also entitled to punitive damages.  The settlement was reached before the jury determined the punitive damages.
