A group of former and present deputy sheriffs in McLennan County, Texas claim in a federal lawsuit that politics is behind their firings and demotions by the newly-elected Sheriff. The deputy sheriffs, eight in total, all publicly supported a candidate, Randy Plemons, who lost the election to Parnell McNamara. They claim in their political discrimination suit that McNamara once in office punished supporters of his opponents through firings and demotions, while rewarding his supporters with promotions and jobs.
