A doctor has been awarded $3.6 million in his discrimination suit against the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center.  Dr. Naiel Nasser, an Egyptian-born Muslim and United States citizen, claimed that he was subjected to religious and national origin discrimination in his job at the hospital and, as a result, was compelled to leave.  He also claimed that he was pressured to falsely submit bills for his services to insurance companies.  A federal court jury in Dallas found that Dr. Nasser had been discriminated against based on his religion and national origin and awarded him $438,000 in back pay and $3.2 million in other damages.
