Fibromyalgia is a condition whose diagnosis, cause and cure has been elusive. Researchers at a small biopharmaceutical company, Intidyn (short for Integrated Tissue Dynamics), and at Albany Medical College believe that they have identified a cause of the condition: excessive sensory nerve fibers around specialized blood vessel structures located in the palms of the hands.

Sufferers of fibromyalgia have sometimes been derided as malingers exaggerating their symptoms; insurance companies have been very resistant to cover treatment or to approve disability insurance claims. This study hopefully will lead to even better understanding of fibromyalgia. It does provide objective medical evidence of the condition.
