A prominent South Florida banking lawyer has sued her former law firm and claimed sex discrimination. Shari Olefson, author of the book, "Foreclosure Nation," claims that she was wrongfully terminated in May 2012 after she complained about a retroactive salary reduction and discriminatory treatment directed at her and other women in the firm, Fowler White Boggs.

Fowler White Boggs, according to the article, denies Olefson's sex discrimination claim and cites that its chairman and CEO is a woman, Rhea Law. So the law firm says, in essence, that it couldn't have discriminated against a woman because it is run by a woman. This seems the epitome of stereotyping. The Supreme Court has rejected the "we wouldn't discriminate against our own kind" argument. Oncale v. Sundowner Offshore Services, 523 U.S. 75 (1998); Castaneda v.Partida, 430 U. S. 482, 499 (1977).
