A series of race discrimination suits against an Iowa hospital, Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, have been settled for $2 million.  Robyn Meeks, a nurse, filed the suit claiming that the hospital discriminated on the basis of race by hiring and promoting less-qualified white applicants and employees. As part of the settlement, Meeks was reinstated to employment, paid her back pay, will receive some compensation for emotional distress and legal fees will be paid.
